In Cook County, the first installment is usually due in March and is always 55% of the prior year’s full year tax amount. In recent years, the due date for the second installment has varied.
In Lake County, the first installment is usually due in June and the second installment in September.
Whether you pay your real estate taxes yourself or your lender pays them on your behalf through an escrow account, it is important to follow up and make sure the taxes have been paid.
